What comes to your mind when you pray,fast and even at times praise and yet that affliction, situaton,temptation and trial persist? You ask “is God silent? No! He is not and never can he be. Psm.91:1-16 is a perfect Bible verse that tells us of God’s protection and love. The 13th verse says, “thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder, the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet”. Then vs 15, “He shall call upon me and I will answer him;I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honour him”, but what happens when you call and he seems far? In my quest to know God more and follow him, I have come to understand that whenever we pray God answers in three dimensions;

(1) Yes (that means he gives you what you are praying for)

(2) No (this means “child what you are asking for does not befit you, I have better plans for you)

(3) He says wait.

Most times we get wait for an answer and we think he does not care or he is not listening. God sees beyond what we see, he knows what gift or blessing will add sorrow to us so he delays the blessing, while resolving, evil that will counterfeit his blessing in our life. In the case of Balaam, for what he stands to gain he wanted to curse the Israelites at the instruction of Balak and he asked God. God said no but Balaam persisted and since God knew that Balaam was going to incure curses on himself, he turned the cursing to blessings instead.

Paul is another case study. Here, Paul healed the sick and did all kinds of signs and wonders but Paul had an infirmity he fought with till death and he prayed but he wasn’t healed. However God told him that”his strength was made perfect in his weakness “. Truth be told  God answered him but God answered in his own way not the way Paul expected. No matter what you go through know that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. GOD IS NEVER SILENT, he is just SILENTLY working out something good for you while silently watching if you will still love him, trust him and have faith in him. While the answer to your prayer is on its way always remember Job’s, “I will wait till my change comes” and he also said ” I know my Redeemer lives, so trust God”. Shalom!
