I’m well familiar with the down feeling that comes with dozing a few verses into Bible study. In the end it is possible for you to set aside an hour for studying and you spend most of that time dozing. However there are some habits that will help you become more productive with Bible study and help you fix some of the challenges you currently have. Below is our list of tips to help you enjoy a more productive Bible study.

  • WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU LEARN IN THE VERSE(S) YOU READ

This creates an expectation inside of you and makes your brain alert to capturing vital information. Reading your bible with a notebook and pen and jotting down lessons or illumination you receive per verse or couple of verses will definitely keep you alert and attentive during Bible study. This also helps  you revisit everything you’ve learned and reflect on them later. When you feel like meditating, your Bible study notebook is excellent companion.

  • CONSIDER AN AUDIO BIBLE

This option is recommended to all as it is an excellent way to learn passively and actively. Unlike when reading the text version of the Bible, you can walk around, do small chores, do some work while listening to the audio Bible. This guarantees you are definitely not falling asleep while you listen to the Bible, although you consciously pay attention to the Bible playing so you do not get carried away

  • BREAK YOUR BIBLE READING INTO FRAGMENTS

This is usually more productive than bulk reading as it allows you deeply digest what you read. When your Bible study agenda is bulky, you could easily become discouraged, or find yourself subconsciously in a race too get it finished. Reading a chapter in the morning, one in the afternoon and one at night is a convenient way to hit the three chapters a day mark. If your target is 6 chapters a day, you can also split evenly into the times of the day.

  • FORM A BIBLE STUDY GROUP WITH FRIENDS OR FAMILY

Bible study groups can set ut a timetable and have review sessions where participants share what they learned. This automatically creates an accountability system and builds discipline. It also allows you unique insight into the portion of Bible you all are studying as everyone shares during the review; the revelations they caught during their study. Ensure that there are too many people in your Bible study group so as to keep the order and build a connection with ease, In a small Bible study group, everyone is compelled to participate because there is nowhere to hide.
