1 Kings 19: 11
‘ And He said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: 12. And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice’.
Many times, we define the way we want God’s visitation to be and so, when He comes we do not see Him. The answers to our questions may lie in a rough piece of paper but we overlook it saying it can’t be from God because we expect it in a cheque book. Elijah was open to whatever form God wanted to visit and he waited. He didn’t say he had to meet God in the fire or in the earthquake or in the wind. And so when He came, he knew.
When the Word became flesh, He dwelt amongst men but how was He treated? Badly! If only they knew the King of Glory was who they dwelt with but they had concluded that He could not be God. He didn’t go about with a crown on His head or with angels behind Him. This calls for you to be careful about how you expect God, seek encounters and answers to your questions. Don’t try to think for Him, He does as He pleases, remember? You may have been expecting an answer to a question, an understanding of a mystery, the missing piece of your puzzle but it’s not forthcoming. It could be because you want to find it in the midst of glamour when it lies elsewhere.
It could also be because you want to hear it from your pastor when it lies in the mouth of another pastor. It could be because He wants to show you through a dream but you are busy waiting for a prophet. It may come from just a nudging, a prompting but what you want to hear is a still small voice. It could be because you want to see God in the fullness of His glory when He wants to come in little or no fragment of His glory. Until you erase these mindsets and come plainly before God, you’ll be moving in a circle without making headway.
Remember also, that not everything that glitters is gold. Gold is found beneath the soil, dirty sand. Treasures are hidden so in whatever step you want to take, allow God take the lead
Be flexible for him to lead you and walk with you. God bless you.
