“Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus”.

These men could be bold witnesses for Christ because they spent time with him. In order to witness effectively, an individual must know Christ personally. If you have received Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you need to spend time with him. There will be very little to share with someone else if you don’t seek and maintain a close walk with Christ through reading and obeying the Bible and praying. You must be a genuine and growing Christian.

Also, one needs to become active in a church where the the bible is preached and taught, memorize and meditate on God’s word, cultivate friendships with other witnessing Christians in order to learn from them, practice explaining how to accept Christ. You may even find it helpful to enroll in a course or read books on personal evangelism.

In addition to this, way to be prepared to witness is to spend time each day with the lord in Bible study and prayer. Once you are prepared, trust the Holy Spirit to empower you and use you (Matthew 10:19-20).

Most importantly, be available and willing to be used by God (Isaiah 6:8).
